Trent Ltd Q4 Profit Falls 56%; Revenue Up Nearly 28%
Tata Group’s retail arm, Trent Ltd, reported a sharp 56.24 per cent decline in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 2025, posting Rs 311.60 crore compared to Rs 712.09 crore in the same period last year. The dip is largely attributed to an exceptional gain recorded in the previous fiscal, the company stated in a regulatory filing on Tuesday.
Despite the fall in bottom line, revenue from operations grew significantly by 27.87 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4,216.94 crore, up from Rs 3,297.70 crore in the March 2024 quarter. Profit before exceptional items and tax, however, rose 38.5 per cent to Rs 416.85 crore, indicating robust operational performance.
In the March 2024 quarter, the company had benefited from a Rs 543 crore one-time gain related to lease reassessment under accounting standard IND AS 116, which had boosted profits then.
For the full financial year 2024–25, Trent’s net profit rose modestly by 3.85 per cent to Rs 1,534.41 crore, while total income surged 37 per cent to Rs 17,353.17 crore. Total expenses in the March quarter increased 26 per cent to Rs 3,874.43 crore.

In FY25, the company added 40 Westside and 244 Zudio outlets, and entered 64 new cities and towns, including several in Tier-II and Tier-III markets.
Chairman Noel N Tata highlighted strong traction in emerging categories such as beauty, innerwear, and footwear, which now contribute over 20 per cent of revenues. Online sales, driven by Westside.com and Tata Neu, grew 43 per cent and accounted for over 6 per cent of Westside’s revenue.
Tata noted that both Westside and Zudio have reached significant scale, with Zudio’s annual revenue surpassing $1 billion, underscoring growing brand recognition and customer loyalty in India’s evolving retail landscape.
