A delegation of the Kochi Water Metro Project recently reached Mumbai for this ambitious project of the state government. After the report of this delegation, it has been learned that preparations for the water taxi project have started to provide relief to Mumbaikars from traffic congestion. Work on the water taxi project will start soon with the help of Maharashtra Maritime Board. It is also being said that the state government intends to complete this project in the next two years. After this, Ro-Ro service and water ambulance will be started in the second phase.
Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts to benefit
According to the report submitted by the Kochi Water Metro Project, 21 sites have been identified in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region where jetties will be constructed. In the first phase, 15 jetties will be constructed. A senior official of the Fisheries Development Ministry said that work on the fertilizer jetty will be done in the second phase. This water taxi project will benefit the citizens of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts.
South Mumbai to Vasai in 40 minutes
Given the current situation, it takes more than two hours to reach Vasai from South Mumbai. However, it is said that this journey is possible in about 40 to 50 minutes by water taxi. The journey from Kalyan to Vasai takes one hour 40 minutes. This journey can be completed in 35 to 45 minutes by water taxi.
