Pahalgam attack: Home secretary chairs high-level security meeting; intense anti-terror ops underway in J&K

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level security meeting on Tuesday to review the security situation in the country in the wake of the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last week.
Director General (DG) of Border Security Force Daljit Singh Chaudhary, DG of National Security Guard Brighu Srinivasan and DG of the Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera attended the meeting, reports said.
Additional Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal Anupama Nilekar Chandra were among the attendees.
It is not immediately known what transpired at the meeting.
The meeting comes amid intense counter-terrorism operations underway at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir. The forces have not shared any specific updates due to its sensitive nature.
Jammu and Kashmir Police raided 13 locations in Doda district on Monday to bust terrorist hideouts. The cops conducted extensive searches at multiple locations in Srinagar, including the residences of Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet for the second time since the Pahalgam attack on Wednesday to review the security situation and the forces’ operational preparedness.
In the last meeting, held a day after the attack, the CCS had announced a slew of punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.
New Delhi also decided to close the Attari land border crossing and suspend short-term visas issues to Pakistani nationals.
At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed as terrorists sprayed bullets indiscriminately at them in the scenic valley in Anantnag district on April 22. India has alleged cross-border linking in the attack.
