India's Ayurvedic Companies Changing The World With Scientific Outlook

India's Patanjali, Dabur, and Himalaya are revolutionising the global health sector by adopting a scientific approach to Ayurveda. These companies have conducted extensive research to establish Ayurvedic medicines and products as evidence-based treatments.

They are developing natural remedies for chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and stress. Ayurveda’s holistic approach focuses on the balance of mind, body, and soul, complementing the limitations of modern medicine.

India's Natural Medicine Reaches New Heights

By combining Ayurveda with modern science, Patanjali has elevated natural medicine to new heights. Patanjali claims that research on its kidney medicine ‘Renogrit’ was included among the top 100 studies in the global journal Scientific Reports in 2024. In addition, over 500 scientists work at Patanjali’s research lab to ensure the quality and effectiveness of its products.

The company states, “Mustard oil extracted through a traditional ‘kolhu’ (wooden press) method has been found helpful in cancer prevention and treatment, representing a confluence of traditional knowledge and scientific validation.” Patanjali claims that its products are exported to more than 70 countries and are available at over 4,700 retail outlets. This indigenous brand is giving tough competition to foreign FMCG companies. With the growing demand for Ayurvedic products, even stores like Big Bazaar and Reliance are stocking them.

These Companies Are Emphasising Scientific Research

Other Indian Ayurvedic companies like Dabur and Himalaya are also focusing on scientific research. A clinical trial of Dabur Chyawanprash—famous for boosting immunity—was published in 2020 in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, confirming its antioxidant properties. Meanwhile, more than 200 scientists at Himalaya’s research centre analyse the active ingredients in herbs.

These Ayurvedic companies emphasise holistic health, promoting balance between mind, body, and soul. Their products are eco-friendly and ethically produced, aligning with global sustainability goals. The vision of these Indian companies is to promote holistic well-being not only in India but around the world.
