Heat wave warning issued for three districts
As hill stations of the state heat up, the state’s meteorological department has issued a yellow warning of severe heat wave conditions in isolated areas of Una, Kullu and Mandi districts for the next two days. During these days, minimum temperatures are likely to surge by 3°C to 4°C while maximum temperatures are very likely to surge by 2°C to 3°C across the state.
The department has also issued a yellow weather warning for all the 12 districts of the state for May 1 and 2, resulting in rain across the state. As per the state’s meteorological department, dry weather conditions will continue till April 30 after which the state will experience light rainfall from May 1 onwards due to a fresh Western Disturbance that is very likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from May 2 onwards.
Meanwhile, weather was mostly dry across the state during the last 24 hours with no large changes recorded in minimum and maximum temperatures.
Maximum temperature in Shimla was 26.8°C while in Dharamsala it was 32°C. Manali, Dalhousie, Kasauli and Kufri recorded 28.5°C, 23.5°C, 28.6°C and 21.5°C, respectively. Solan recorded 32.2°C, Bilaspur 36°C, Chamba 32.5°C, Kangra 36.6°C, Reckongpeo 27.2°C, mandi 35.6°C, Nahan 34.5°C, Narkanda 21°C, Bhuntr 34.5°C, Sundernagar 36.2°C and Kalpa 23.1°C.
With 42°C maximum temperature, Una was the hottest place in the state while Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest with 3.3°C minimum temperature.
