Sirsa hosts ‘Education Langar’ to support underprivileged students

Sirsa witnessed a unique kind of ‘langar’ on Monday — not of food, but of education. The Baba Sarsai Nath Book Bank Welfare Trust organised its fourth book distribution ceremony at the Sri Gaushala auditorium, aiming to support underprivileged children by providing them with textbooks.

A total of 47 students received books during the event and were urged to make the most of the resources to excel in their studies and make their families proud.

The event was presided over by Gurdeep Saini, who spoke about the Trust’s mission to prevent student dropouts due to the lack of educational materials.

Saini said the Trust not only distributes books but also provides coaching classes, career counselling and free spectacles to students in need, ensuring holistic support for their educational journey.

The general secretary of the Trust, Prem Kandoi, explained the process for availing support — students need only fill out a form to receive books, which must be returned after their examinations to maintain the Book Bank cycle.

In his address, the special invitee, Arpit Bhatia, urged students to stay committed to their education and assured them of continued support, particularly if they choose to pursue demanding professional careers such as Chartered Accountancy.

The event concluded with the dignitaries being honoured with mementos in recognition of their contributions and support.
