Family ID issues dominate grievances at Samadhan Shivirs in Karnal

The Samadhan Shivirs, a public grievance redressal initiative launched by the Haryana Government, have received 3,646 complaints in the district since their inception on June 9, 2024, with around 44 per cent relating to Family ID issues, according to official data.

Of the total complaints recorded, 3,021 have been resolved, 118 remain pending and 222 have been rejected. A significant number — 1,617 complaints — were directed at the Citizen Resources Information Department (CRID), which manages the state’s flagship Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) or Family ID programme.

The PPP scheme, which aims to streamline the delivery of government services and benefits, has encountered operational challenges. Citizens have frequently reported errors in personal details, incorrect data on family members and other discrepancies under the system, leading to a surge in related grievances.

Apart from PPP-related problems, several other departments also received substantial complaints: 909 were tied to urban local bodies, 660 to pensions, 221 to the Development and Panchayat Department, 210 to the police and 86 to the Revenue Department. Another 99 complaints involved irrigation, public health and UHBVN combined, while 47 were linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and six were registered with the Transport Department.

Initially, the Samadhan Shivirs were organised daily on working days from 9 am to 11 am at the district and sub-divisional levels. They were later extended to municipal committee offices. However, from April 3, 2025, following directions from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the grievance camps are now conducted every Monday and Thursday between 10 am and 12 pm at district headquarters, sub-divisional and municipal committee offices.

Officials claim these camps provide a direct interface between the public and departmental representatives, ensuring faster resolution of complaints. “Our primary objective is to resolve public problems effectively,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Yash Jaluka. He affirmed staff are present at each camp to address grievances on the spot.

Responding to the large number of PPP-related problems, Jaluka stated, “Since all state government benefits are delivered through PPP, we follow a structured process to address concerns and are committed to resolving them swiftly.”
