500 Rupee Notes: Find out from your smartphone whether the 500 rupee note is real or fake

The government had recently issued a warning that fake 500 rupee notes have arrived in the market which are very difficult to identify. Today we are going to tell you how you can understand the difference between real and fake notes through your smartphone.

Recently, the Home Ministry had issued a warning regarding fake notes of Rs 500. In this warning issued by the government to organizations like CBI, SEBI and NIA, it was told that fake notes of Rs 500 are circulating in the market which are very difficult to catch. In such a situation, to help you, we are going to tell you about some of the ways, with the help of which you can identify real and fake notes using your smartphone. For this you must have a smartphone. Let’s understand more about this in detail.

Download RBI’s ‘MANI’ app

To understand the difference between real and fake notes using your phone, you can download RBI’s MANI app. This app is specially designed to identify notes. The full name of this app is Mobile Aided Note Identifier. You can download this app for free from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. This app is very easy to use. After installing this app, you just have to turn on your phone’s camera and bring it in front of the note. After this, this app will automatically tell whether the note is real or not. The interesting thing is that it does not even require internet. The special thing about this app is that even if the note is torn or dirty, it can identify the note correctly.

Check the security features of the note with the camera

There are many types of security features present on Indian currency. You can identify all these features by using your phone’s camera. For example, the security thread of ‘500’ written on the 500 rupee note changes color when the note is viewed in good light through the phone’s camera. For this, you have to rotate the note. Similarly, the watermark is also clearly visible in the phone’s camera. If you can clearly see these features through your phone’s camera, then the note is real. On the other hand, if these features are not visible, then the note is fake.

Ultra violet test with phone’s flash

You can also do a UV test of the note using the torch of some smartphones. Such ink is used on Indian notes which is visible only in ultra violet light. For example, the numbers and security thread on the note glow blue or green in UV light. You can use purple or blue plastic on the flash light of your phone as a UV light. After this, you can put that blue light on the note and see whether the numbers or any special symbol on the note are glowing or not. Let us tell you here that there is a difference between real UV light and using plastic on the phone’s flash light as a UV light. In such a situation, you can also find out the authenticity of the note by buying a cheap UV light from the market.

Check micro-lettering with camera zoom

Very small words are printed on Indian notes. These are called micro-lettering. You cannot see them easily. However, the zoom feature of your phone camera can be useful here. You can take your mobile’s camera to zoom mode and look carefully at special parts of the note such as near Mahatma Gandhi’s glasses or below the numbers. For example, in the new 500 rupee note, words like ‘Bharat’, ‘RBI’, and ‘500’ are printed in very small size. Counterfeiters often cannot make such fine letters. So if you can see these words clearly on zooming, then the note is real.
