Bajrang Dal workers in Bengal to tackle ‘jihadis’? Ram Navami video falsely viral
Against the backdrop of the recent communal violence that broke out during protests against the Waqf Amendment Act in Murshidabad, West Bengal, a video went viral on social media in which a crowd of thousands carrying saffron flags can be seen chanting “Ek hi nara, ek hi naam, Jai Sri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev” on the road. Users are sharing it with the claim that more than 10,000 Bajrang Dal workers had reached West Bengal after the violence.
Telangana assembly member T Raja Singh’s parody account shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “10 thousand Bajrang Dal workers from Rajasthan reached Bengal, people are holding their breath for 15 minutes”. (Archive link)
The reference of 15 minutes in this tweet is to the controversial statement of Akbaruddin Owaisi, younger brother of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, where he allegedly said in 2012, ‘If you remove the police for 15 minutes, you will know who is powerful.’ A case was lodged against him for the alleged comments. However, due to lack of evidence, the court acquitted him in 2022.

X user ‘@ocjain4‘, who has been found amplifying misinformation and communal propaganda on several occasions, also shared the video with the claim the Bajrang Dal had reached Bengal. (Archive link)

The tweet has received over 2,700 reshares and more than 80,000 views.
Facebook page ‘Sanatan Dharma‘ also shared a video making the same claim, which has been viewed by more than 10 Lakh people. (Archive link)
Gyan Veer, founder and president of Bhartiya Navnirman Sena, posted a video on Instagram with similar claims. (Archive link)
Many X users shared the video with the same claim. ( Archive link )
Fact Check
On watching the viral video, Alt News found that amid the noise, the youth making the video was speaking some words in the Bengali language, such as ‘Ram Navami’, an ‘amazing sight never seen before in Barasat’, etc.
Continuing the investigation, we did a reverse image search of some frames of the viral video. We found an Instagram account named Arup Biswas from which the viral video was uploaded on April 6, 2025. The caption describes the video as from Barasat near Kolkata shot on the occasion of Ram Navami. It says, “The entire Barasat city is witnessing an unprecedented… incomparable… thrilling moment today. The streets of Barasat are filled with one of the biggest processions in Bengal on Ram Navami”. Going through this user’s Instagram timeline, we found two more videos related to the procession taken out on Ram Navami in Barasat, West Bengal, uploaded on April 7 and April 8. (Archive Link-1 , Link-2)
Further, as reported by The Times of India, on April 6, BJP leaders, including Union minister Sukanta Majumdar and actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty, took part in the “Ram Navami Shobha Yatra” in Barasat.

To confirm the location, we geolocated the frame with the Royal Enfield board in the video. On Google Maps, we found both the Royal Enfield showroom and Canara Bank in Barasat in the same building. The Google Street View images were from 2023, which shows the showroom to be under construction, but we saw a Royal Enfield board on an electric pole nearby, and compared it with some buildings nearby. This made it clear that the video is not from Murshidabad but from Barasat.

To sum up, the viral video is of a religious rally held in Barasat, West Bengal on April 6 during Ram Navami and is not related to any incident violence in the state. Users falsely shared the video with the claim of arrival of Bajrang Dal workers in the state in view of the Murshidabad violence.
