Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Loses Cool, Nearly Slaps Police Officer During Rally In Belagavi—On Cam

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah nearly slapped Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Narayan Bharamani during a public rally in the Belagavi district of Karnataka on Monday. The incident took place after a disruption at the venue where Siddaramaiah was scheduled to speak.

Bharamani, assigned to provide stage security, was caught in the middle of a protest by BJP women workers nearby. Frustrated by the disturbance, Siddaramaiah called the officer to the stage and publicly reprimanded him. He raised his hand as if to slap the officer, but stopped before making contact.

“You, whoever you are, come here, what were you doing?” he questioned and raised his hand to slap the officer, India Today reported.

In the video, Siddaramaiah is seen angrily calling a Police officer on stage and scolding while addressing the rally.

The confrontation unfolded following a protest by BJP women workers raising slogans against the State Government and the CM while waving a black cloth, according to ANI.

JDS Criticised Siddaramaiah's Misconduct

In response, the Janata Dal Secular (JDS), in a post on X, accused Siddaramaiah of arrogance and misconduct. The party condemned the Chief Minister for angrily calling a Police officer on stage and nearly raising his hand in a public setting.

"Siddaramaiah, you have become arrogant due to the power you hold. Raising your hand to hit the District Police Chief does not bring any dignity or respect to your position. As the Chief Minister, attempting to slap the ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) while using singular language in a public forum, like a street thug, is an unforgivable crime, " the JDS said in the post.

"Your term in power is only 5 years. However, a government officer serves until the age of 60. Power is not permanent for anyone. Correct your misconduct, " JDS added.

BJP has also launched an attack on the Karnataka CM, accusing him of abuse of power and disgraceful display of arrogance. "Who said Aurangzeb and Hitler are no more? Karnataka's Wazir-E-Ala @siddaramaiah publicly shames and nearly slaps an Assistant Superintendent of Police during a Political rally in Belagavi! Absolute abuse of power and disgraceful display of arrogance against those who protect the law! " the BJP posted on X.
