Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti will leave the Spanish capital to become the new head coach of Brazil's national team, a prominent media outlet confirmed. After a disappointing season with the Los Blancos, the 65-year-old Ancelotti won't continue at the Santiago Bernabeu although his current contract runs out only in 2026.
Italian Ancelotti will take over the Brazil national team in June after the current La Liga season concludes, the Athletic said in a report. Many in the Real Madrid dressing room are already aware of his decision, it added.
A struggling Brazil has long been linked with Carlo Ancelotti. The former AC Milan and Everton manager maintained that he was concentrated on winning with Real Madrid and was not interested in discussing any other jobs until his contract ran out. In light of the new developments, "Don Carlo" is likely to hold fresh rounds of meetings with representatives of the Brazilian Football Federation next week, Athletic said. If everything goes as planned, he could become the highest-paid Brazil manager in history.
