Pahalgam terror attack: India retaliates as Pak violates LoC ceasefire for fourth night in Poonch, Kupwara sectors

Indian armed forces retaliated “effectively” as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control for the fourth consecutive night on Sunday. Pakistan has been firing across LoC, violating the ceasefire, since the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack.

 

According to the Army, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Kupwara districts on the intertwining night of April 27-28. “During the night of 27-28 April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts. Indian troops responded swiftly and effectively,” Army officials said. However, there are no reports of casualties.

 

Pakistan has been resorting to unprovoked firing along the LoC since the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 26 persons were killed in the brutal attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. The deceased include 24 tourists from across the country, a local horse rider and a Nepali citizen.

 

India has vowed stern action against the terrorists and their backers. The unprovoked firing comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the attack. India announced a series of diplomatic measures against Pakistan in the wake of the attack.

 

India suspended the Indus water treaty, closed the Attari border, suspended visas for Pakistani nationals, declared defence advisors and their five support staff at the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi as Persona Non Grata and reduced strength at embassies from 55 to 30. India also withdrew its defence advisors from its embassy in Islamabad.

 

In retaliation, Pakistan also suspended all treaties with India, including the Shimla treaty, closed Wagah checkpost, and closed its airspace for Indian airlines.
