Wanted Haryana criminal held during joyride in Delhi
A wanted Haryana criminal, who was involved in a recent firing incident in Jhajjar and currently out on a joyride, was arrested in Dwarka here, a police official said Sunday.
The arrest, which took place on April 17, prevented potential violence in Dwarka and led to the recovery of a sophisticated firearm, four live cartridges and a Thar SUV linked to the crime.
The accused, identified as Harish, alias Monu, a 27-year-old resident of Gubhana in Jhajjar, Haryana, had been on the run after being named in a firing case in Badli, Jhajjar.
According to police officials, a tip-off led to his interception near Kakrola Ganda Nala in Dwarka, where he was found travelling in the same SUV used in the Jhajjar incident. During the search, the police recovered a firearm and cartridges from the vehicle.
The arrest follows a targeted effort by the police to crack down on criminals involved in firearm-related offenses. A dedicated team acted swiftly after receiving information about Monu’s movements.
Monu, along with two other associates, had allegedly opened fire in Jhajjar on April 10, 2025, in an altercation that led to the registration of a case under the Arms Act. During questioning, Monu revealed that he aspired to “make a name” for himself in the criminal world, further adding to the seriousness of his involvement in illegal activities.
Police records show that Monu has a history of criminal offenses, with prior involvement in armed robbery and attempted murder cases both in Delhi and Haryana.
