‘Pakistan Acted Like ISIS’: Owaisi On Pahalgam Attack, Says India 'Will Not Sit Quietly' After Killings

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, comparing Pakistan’s actions to those of ISIS.

Speaking in Parbhani, Maharashtra, on Sunday, Owaisi said, “Pakistan always talks about being a nuclear power; they need to remember if they enter a country and kill innocent people, that country will not sit quietly. No matter the government, by killing our people on our land, and targeting them based on religion, what ‘deen’ (faith) are you talking about?… You have acted like the ISIS. I want to tell the Prime Minister that if Kashmir is our integral part, then Kashmiris are also our integral part… We cannot doubt the Kashmiris…”

The Hyderabad MP highlighted the local Kashmiris who helped save people, including deceased Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who lost his life while trying to save tourists during the Pahalgam terrorist attack as he attempted to snatch the terrorists' gun to protect the tourists.

Flanked By Owaisi, Revanth Reddy Calls To 'Merge PoK With India'

On Friday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Owaisi participated in a candlelight march held in Hyderabad to protest against the terror attack. The event, organised as a show of unity against terrorism, paid tribute to the victims. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Reddy called for reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He said, “We urge you to move forward, and we, the 140 crore Indians, will stand with you. Divide Pakistan into two parts and merge PoK with India, we are all with you. This is not the time to do politics.”

According to news agency ANI, CM Reddy further added, “At a time like this, when terrorists have attacked our fellow citizens, all 140 crore people of the country have taken this attack to heart. Now is the time to respond strongly.”

In a symbolic act of protest, Owaisi donned a black band on his forearm and distributed similar bands to worshippers ahead of Juma Namaz at Shastripuram Mosque in Hyderabad on Friday, condemning the Pahalgam terror attack which claimed several innocent lives and sparked nationwide outrage.

Owaisi Calls To Impose Sanction On Pakistan

Following his participation in the all-party meeting convened by the government on Thursday, Owaisi called for stringent action against Pakistan and appreciated the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Referring to the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday, he said, “It is very good that the Indus Water Treaty has been suspended but where will we keep the water?… We will support whatever decision the central government takes… This is not a political issue.”

Owaisi also asserted that the central government could act against Pakistan under international law. “The central government can take action against the nation which shelters the terrorist groups. The international law also permits us to do an air and naval blockade in self-defence against Pakistan and impose sanctions on Pakistan on arms sales,” he said, as per ANI.

Raising questions over security lapses, he asked, “Why was the CRPF not deployed at the Baisaran meadow?… Why did the quick reaction team take one hour to reach there and they shot people by asking their religion,” he said.

He condemned the targeting of people based on their religion and urged that “false propaganda” against Kashmiris and Kashmiri students be stopped.

Terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, while leaving several others injured. The attack has been described as one of the deadliest in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama terror strike, which had claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans.
