UPSC Success Story: The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is arguably the toughest recruitment test in the country, and only the best of academic minds, who possess utmost dedication and perseverance, are able to clear exam. One such individual is UPSC 2024 topper Ankita Kanti, a brilliant young woman from Uttarakhand, who emerged as the topper in UPSC Hindi-medium, achieving an overall All-India Rank (AIR) of 137 in the UPSC CSE 2024.
Who is Ankita Kanti?
Haling from Chirkhun, a tiny little village near in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, Ankita Kanti belongs to a humble middle-income home with her father, Deveshwar Kanti, working as a private security guard for a private security which is tasked with carrying cash to banks, while her mother, Usha Kanti, is a housemaker.
Growing up, Ankita Kanti excelled in academics from an early age and completed her schooling at the Doon Modern School in Tuntowala, and later, Sanjay Public School in Karbari, Ankita scored 92.40% marks in her class 10th examination while studying at the Doon Modern School, and in 2018, emerged as the fourth topper in entire Uttarakhand in Class 12th exams, scoring an impressive 96.4% marks.
After schooling, Ankita Kanti earned a B.Sc degree from DBS College, and then pursued an M.Sc (Physics) degree from DAV College.
Humble beginnings to UPSC Success
Battling limited resources, Ankita began preparing for UPSC CSE while attending college, and relied on self-study, unlike a majority of UPSC aspirants. Her hard work and perseverance ultimately paid off when she emerged as the topper in UPSC Hindi-medium, among 40 candidates, and achieved an AIR of 137 in 2024 UPSC CSE.
Ankita’s UPSC success has brought insurmountable joy to the humble family which currently resides in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Ankita’s younger sibling, Anjali, has also landed a job in a bank, while her youngest sister, Anushka, is following in her older sibling’s footsteps, and preparing for UPSC and state-level competitive examination.
