Why Did BTS' RM & Tablo's 'Stop The Rain' Take 3 Years To Release? Epik High Member Reveals The Real Reason, Says Lyrics Got Too 'Personal'
After three long years of waiting, BTS' RM and Epik High’s Tablo are finally ready to share their highly anticipated track, Stop the Rain, with the world. The song, which was reportedly created a few years ago, will officially be released on May 2 at 1 PM KST. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the chance to hear it, and the reason behind its delayed release is just as captivating and "personal" as the music itself.
Where did everything start?
The collaboration between RM and Tablo began with their joint work on 'All Day' for RM's Indigo album. The experience was so enjoyable that it sparked the idea of working together again. Soon after, Stop the Rain was born. But despite completing the song, it's taken years for it to see the light of day.
Tablo recently took to his Instagram and opened up about the reason behind the track's delay, revealing that it was a deeply personal decision. According to Tablo, when he and RM initially created the song, they were both passionate about it, not realising how much of their personal feelings had gone into the lyrics. As Tablo explains, "When we were making the song, we were so into it that we didn’t realise how personal the lyrics had become."

'RM’s journal is a different story'
For Tablo, the decision to withhold the track wasn't about the song itself but about respecting the privacy of his collaborator. He elaborated, saying, "If it were just my journal, I would've had no problem revealing it. But RM’s journal is a different story." As per Tablo, the lyrics of Stop the Rain had taken on a profound, intimate quality, almost like reading from their personal journals, and Tablo didn’t want to cross any boundaries without RM’s consent.
It wasn't until a few months ago that RM himself reached out to Tablo and simply asked, "Hyung, where's the song?" After hearing Tablo's concerns, RM said, "Release it."
Now, Stop the Rain is ready to be shared with the world, and Tablo has expressed that he doesn't plan to push the song with a heavy promotional campaign. He said, "It doesn't feel like that kind of song." Instead, he has a heartfelt request for fans: "If you love the song, please take it, run with it, and take it where it needs to go."
The highly anticipated track, which combines the musical worlds of RM and Tablo, is set to release on May 2, and fans around the world are eagerly waiting to experience it.
