Singer Adnan Sami has locked horns with Fawad Ahmed Hussain Chaudhry, a Pakistani politician, who targeted him over his Indian citizenship.

Chaudhry, a former minister during the Imran Khan administration, was responding to a post on India's deadline for Pakistani citizens to leave the country following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Taking a dig at the singer, the politician asked, "What about Adnan Sami?"

Singer Adnan Sami, who was born and brought up in the UK, is son of Pakistani father while his mother is from Jammu. With a Pakistani and Canadian citizenship, the singer moved to India in 2001. In 2015, he applied for Indian citizenship and has been a citizen since 2016.

Taking a jab at Adnan Sami's weight-loss journey, Chaudhry said, "Our very own Lahori Adnan Sami looks like a deflated balloon... get well soon."

Clapping back at the Pakistani politician, Sami said, "Who's going to tell this illiterate idiot!!" Calling him a "dumba**", the singer clarified that he is from Peshawar and not Lahore. "To think that you were Minister of (Mis) Information and have no knowledge about any information," he added.

Responding to Chaudhry's body-shaming remarks, the singer said, "I may have got deflated, but you are still a balloon. And you were Minister of Science? Was that the science of bulls***?"

Pakistan nationals in India will have to leave the country by April 27. These include visa on arrival, business visa, film visa, journalist visa, transit visa, conference visa, mountaineering visa, student visa, visitor visa, group tourist visa, pilgrim visa and group pilgrim visa for minorities. Those with medical visa can stay till April 29. Saarc visas had expired on April 26.
