Suriya announces next with 'Lucky Bhaskar' director Venky Atluri, expresses confidence in Karthik Subbaraj's 'Retro'

Tamil actor Suriya, who is gearing up for the release of Karthik Subbaraj's Retro, has confirmed his association with director Venky Atluri (Lucky Bhaskar, Vaathi) for an upcoming film produced by Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments. Suriya shared the news while attending a pre-release event for Retro in Hyderabad, which also saw the presence of Vijay Devarakonda.

Confirming that it would be his next with Atluri, Suriya said: “I have to announce this today. The whole journey started with Allu Aravind garu. We are associating with Sithara Entertainment Vamsi garu and my dear brother Venky. As you all have been asking, after a long time, with beautiful association and beautiful talent here, we will be doing my next Tamil film with dear Venky. I’ll be shooting a lot and spending a lot of time here in beautiful Hyderabad. From May onwards, we start our next project. We need all your love and blessings and I am sure this will be a beautiful journey."

Meanwhile, Venky shared the video of Suriya announcing the project on his Instagram stories. He wrote, "Absolutely privileged and very excited to collaborate with the phenomenal @actorsuriya sir for his next, #Suriya46. Looking forward to sharing this unique journey with you all soon! Produced by my dearest @nagavamsi19 garu! @sitharaentertainments."

Suriya, who was last seen in Kanguva, is hoping for a strong comeback through Retro, which hits theatres on May 1. Expressing his confidence in the film, the actor stated, "You don't lose when you fall down, you lose when you refuse to get up... We will bounce back big time, and we will give that strong punch once again."

The film, co-starring Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, and Karunakaran, is bankrolled by Suriya's home banner 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Creations.

Shot by Shreyaas Krishna and edited by Shafique Mohamed Ali, it has music by Santhosh Narayanan. The 'Kanimaa' song has already gone viral, with many trying to emulate Pooja Hegde's dance steps on social media reels.

Suriya's other upcoming projects include Vaadivaasal with Vetrimaaran (Visaranai, Vada Chennai) and RJ Balaji's tentatively titled 'Suriya 45'.
