‘130 Nuclear Warheads Only For India’: Pakistan Minister's Stark Threat Amid Rising Tensions
Pakistan’s Minister Hanif Abbasi warned that Pakistan would respond with nuclear force if India cuts off its water supply. His comments came after India announced it would suspend the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, a major water-sharing agreement between the two countries, following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people.
Abbasi made it clear that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, including missiles like Ghori, Shaheen, and Ghaznavi, are aimed "only for India." He said, “If they stop the water supply to us, then they should be ready for a war.” He also stated that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are hidden and that no one knows their locations, making them ready for use if needed.
"These ballistic missiles, all of them are targeted at you," Abbasi said, adding that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are not simply for show. "Nobody knows where we have placed our nuclear weapons across the country."
Abbasi's remarks were a direct response to India’s countermeasures following the deadly attack, in which a terrorist group carried out an assault in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. India's retaliatory steps included suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and revoking all visas for Pakistani nationals.
The Pakistani Minister mocked India’s decision to suspend trade ties and water supply, stating that New Delhi was beginning to understand the consequences of its actions. He also pointed to the disruption caused by Pakistan’s shutdown of airspace to Indian flights, highlighting the chaos this had caused in India’s aviation sector. “If things were to continue like this for another 10 days, the airlines in India would go bankrupt,” Abbasi claimed.
Abbasi’s strong remarks followed similar comments from Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who admitted that Pakistan had been involved in supporting and training terrorist groups for many years. However, Asif also blamed the United States and other Western countries for encouraging this behavior. He suggested that if Pakistan had not joined the wars in the past, its track record would have been much cleaner.
In another provocative statement, Asif accused India of “staging” the Pahalgam terror attack to create a regional crisis aimed at destabilizing Pakistan. He also dismissed the existence of the group responsible for the attack, The Resistance Front, and claimed that Lashkar-e-Taiba, previously linked to several terrorist activities, no longer exists. “Lashkar is an old name. It does not exist... Our government has condemned it (Pahalgam attack) categorically,” Asif insisted.
