Kingpin of vehicle thieves’ gang lands in Gurugram police net

The Gurugram police have arrested the kingpin of a gang of vehicle thieves, who was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head. The gang members were involved in over 55 cases of vehicle theft.

According to the police, the Sector 37 crime unit team arrested the accused at Alwar in Rajasthan on Thursday. He has been identified as Vinod, a resident of Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan. Earlier, three members of the gang were arrested by the police in Rajasthan. The accused were identified as Rishikesh, Ramprasad, and Mangilal. They would do recce of the cars parked at isolated places at night, and then start it with an electronic device to steal it. Five stolen cars and a motorcycle were recovered from them.

“From the perusal of the criminal record of the main accused, it was found that he has 55 cases registered against him in Rajasthan for several crimes, including theft. His gang member, Rishikesh, has 85 cases registered against him in Rajasthan for crimes, including assault, theft, etc., while 56 cases were registered against Ramprasad. We are questioning the accused,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
