IPL 2025: Rampaging Mumbai Indians Lock Horns With Tricky Lucknow Super Giants In Mid-Table Clash At Wankhede
A rampant Mumbai Indians outfit will be looking to further consolidate their position in a crucial IPL clash against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
With four victories on a trot, the Hardik Pandya-led side are currently fourth in the standings and on a roll with all their levers functioning at the optimum level.
The top-order led by the legendary Rohit Sharma is on fire in the last few games and the middle order comprising the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma is on fire too.
Rohit and Suryakumar have been in rollicking form for the Mumbai Indians with the former slamming back-to-back fifties in the previous two games while the latter has cracked a half-century and a 40 in the last two matches as well.
The return to form of Rohit has propped up Mumbai Indians' fortunes as they look a completely different team when that happens with the kind of launchpad Rohit can provide.
Suryakumar has 373 runs from nine matches so far with a tremendous strike rate of 166.51 and two half-centuries that have powered Mumbai Indians' winning causes.
With MI and LSG both on ten points and placed fourth and sixth respectively, the only differentiator is the Net Run Rate where Lucknow are on the negative with -0.054.
Most of Mumbai Indians' lynchpins such as Rohit, Suryakumar, Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult and Bumrah are in fine fettle and that has aided their change in fortunes afterthe usual poor start to the season.
As far as LSG is concerned their overseas players such as Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram have been driving their fortunes with big runs although skipper Rishabh Pant has struggled with 106 runs in nine matches.
Pant has been unable to justify the most expensive player tag with his batting that has struggled since the beginning of the season but there is no reason why he cannot bounce back to form.
The LSG bowlers are not the most potent in the tournament but they most certainly have some know-how for this game with the presence of local man Shardul Thakur.
Thakur has been in the thick of things for LSG with 12 wickets snaffled by him in the tournament.
On the spin front there is Ravi Bishnoi and the newcomer Digvesh Rathi who have been the mainstays for the Super Giants. The latter especially has made a terrific impression in the IPL with both his tweaking abilities and his innovative celebrations.
