Bhopal: Swachhta Survekshan Reaches Final Phase

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Swachhta Survekshan 2024 in Bhopal has entered its final phase, with surveys completed in 11 out of the 21 municipal zones within just seven days.

A team from Delhi has been rigorously assessing various cleanliness parameters, particularly focusing on Garbage Free City (GFC) and Open Defecation Free (ODF)/Water+ standards, which together account for 2,500 out of the total 12,500 marks.

Zones 1, 2, 4, and 17 were surveyed over three days each, while Zones 6, 11, and 12 underwent a one-day inspection. Zones 8, 9, 18, and 19 were covered in two days. On Friday, detailed inspections were conducted in Zones 1, 2, 17, and 18, with surveys in Zones 2, 17, and 18 marked as completed. Inspections in Zone 1, which stretches from Bairagarh to Lalghati, continued on Saturday, alongside the launch of surveys in the remaining 10 zones.

Key areas under inspection include public toilets, gardens, drains, sewers and citizen feedback. As part of the evaluation, 218 public toilets were inspected and the effectiveness of garbage collection services was also assessed.

According to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, the survey team is expected to complete inspections in the remaining zones within the next five to seven days. Officials also said that field activities intensified daily once online information from Delhi was received, with Area Health Officers (AHOs) and field staff mobilised immediately based on beat charts to ensure constant vigilance.
