Open Sewer Chambers Pose Danger to Commuters and Animals In MP's Jabalpur

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The numbers of open sewer chambers in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur are resulting into a death trap for commuters, inviting potential accidents for commoners.

In fact, citizens are not the only possible victim to these 'black-holes,' however, animals are also being trapped into those.

In a recent incident, a dog fell into the open sewer chamber near Jabalpur's Dhanwantri Nagar Madfaiya, on Friday morning.

Fortunately, some by-standers saw the canine fall into the open sewage line, after which the local councilor Jeetu Katare was immediately informed.

Dog rescued safely

Further, with Municipal Corporation's staff's assistance, the dog was safely rescued and pulled out of danger.

According to local residents, the area is witnessing a road widening work from Dhanwantri Nagar to Madfaiya. However, the pace of the project remains slow leading to daily complications for the commuters.

Slight distraction can cause accident

Dust storms have become quite frequent in the area, and heavy vehicles find it difficult to navigate though the partially dugged up road. Moreover the chambers of the sewage line is left open and uncovered and even a slight distraction can cause the driver to become a victim of an accident.

Additionally, parents in the area fear for their children's safety. Residents complained the contractor about the matter several times, but the administration remains adamant on being negligent.
