Congress Felt 'Trapped And Isolated’: Rahul Gandhi Recalls Shift To ‘New Aggressive Politics’ — Video
Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that there was a time when the members of the Congress party completely felt "trapped and isolated". Addressing the Bharat Summit 2025 in Hyderabad addressed the challenges faced by the party in recent years.
The former Congress president, Gandhi, arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday to participate in the Bharat Summit 2025, a global conference hosted by the Telangana government. He was received by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and several senior Congress leaders at the airport.
“This new politics, aggressive politics, a politics where the opposition is not talked to, but the idea is to crush the opposition, and we found that all our avenues were compromised,” Gandhi said.
“ The media, the general atmosphere, did not allow us to operate the way we would like, and so we reached back into our history, and we decided to walk from Kanyakumari all the way to Kashmir, where I was yesterday,” Gandhi further added.
Rahul also mentioned the two things that he learnt from the walk.
“Our opposition across the world has a monopoly on anger, fear and hatred, and there's no way that we are ever going to be able to compete with them on anger, fear and hatred. They are going to outdo us, outmanoeuvre us and beat us every single time when it comes to fear, anger and hatred. So the question is, where and how do we operate? Where are the spaces where we have the advantage? Where are the spaces from which we can build a counterarative?…,” Gandhi added.
Gandhi also said that the greatest and the most powerful disruption to hatred is the idea of love and affection. He said that there may be disagreements on the policy matters, but the lens used for it should be love, affection and listening to the people to whom they represent.
