Amid Pahalgam terror attack probe, intelligence agencies issue list of 14 local terrorists

The intelligence agencies have issued a list of 14 local terrorists actively operating in Jammu and Kashmir, a move that comes amid the ongoing probe into the deadly terror attack at Pahalgam on April 22.

 

These individuals aged between 20 and 40 are affiliated to three major Pakistan-based terror outfits. Three of them are associated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), eight with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and three with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

 

They have been providing logistical and ground-level support to terrorists from Pakistan, news agency ANI reported quoting sources.

 

The names of these local terrorists, as per reports, are: 

    1. Adil Rehman Dentoo (21): Sopore district commander of LeT

    2. Asif Ahmed Sheikh (28): Awantipura district commander of JeM

    3. Ahsan Ahmed Sheikh (23): An LeT terrorist active in Pulawama

    4. Haris Nazir (20): Terrorist from Pulwamam active in LeT

    5. Aamir Nazir Wani (20): Terrorist from Pulwama linked to JeM

    6. Yawar Ahmed Bhat: Terrorist from Pulwama linked to JeM

    7. Asif Ahmed Khanday (24): A terrorist from Shopian district, joined HM in 2015

    8. Naseer Ahmed Wani (21): An active member of LeT from Shopian

    9. Shahid Ahmed Kutay (27): An active terrorist from Shopian linked to LeT

    10. Aamir Ahmed Dar: An active terrorist from Shopian linked to LeT

    11. Adnan Safi Dar: An active terrorist linked to both LeT and TRF

    12. Zubair Ahmed Wani (39): Chief Operational Commander of HM

    13. Haroon Rashid Ganai (32): An active HM terrorist

    14. Zakir Ahmed Ganie (29): An active terrorist from Kulgam linked to LeT

 

The investigators have already identified the five terrorists allegedly involved in the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, including two foreign nationals, lost their lives. Of them three were Pakistan-based terrorists—Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha—and two were local militants: Adil Guri and Ahsan.

 

The agencies have released sketches of these terrorists.
