Farmer Trampled To Death By Wild Elephants In Tirupati

A 65-year-old farmer, Siddayya from Dasarigudem village in Chinnagottigallu mandal, was killed by a herd of wild elephants in Chittecherla panchayat near Kothapalli area on Friday night. The incident marks another fatality in the growing man-animal conflict in Tirupati district.

Police confirmed Siddayya's death and noted that this is not the first such tragedy in the region — just three months ago, Naravaripalle sub-sarpanch Rakesh was also fatally attacked by elephants in Chandragiri mandal, as per a report on The Hindu.

Expressing grief over the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan took to social media platform X, stating, "It is deeply saddening that 72-year-old Sri R Siddayya, a resident of Dasarigudem village, Chinnagottigallu mandal, Tirupati district, was killed in an elephant attack. I express my condolences to the family members who have lost their family head."

The Deputy CM announced that the state government would provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Siddayya’s family.

He further emphasised that while measures were in place to monitor elephant movements and alert nearby villagers, more stringent precautions would be implemented going forward to prevent such tragedies. "We will take every step to ensure the safety of both people and wildlife," he assured.
