48 students from this IIT received salary packages worth Rs 6000000, not IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur or IIT Kharagpur
Landing a high-paying job is a dream for many students, and top institutes like IITs and IIMs often help make that dream come true during campus placements. Recently, students from IIT Dhanbad and NIT Jamshedpur have made headlines with impressive job offers. At IIT Dhanbad, 48 students received salary packages worth Rs. 60 lakh per year during the latest placement season. In a remarkable achievement, one student, Sourav Shakti from the Mineral and Metallurgy Engineering department, secured an annual package of Rs. 1.22 crore — the highest ever recorded at the institute, according to a report by Live Hindustan.
A total of 1,656 students from various courses at IIT ISM Dhanbad registered for placements this year (2024–25 batch). Out of these, 1,025 students received job offers, and 985 students accepted them.
The report further highlights that:
- 27 students received packages between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh.
- 58 students received packages between Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 40 lakh.
- 291 students were offered packages ranging from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh annually.
- The average package offered during placements was around Rs. 17.69 lakh per year.
Meanwhile, NIT Jamshedpur also saw an excellent placement season. Over 260 companies visited the campus, offering a total of 725 jobs across different branches.
In NIT Jamshedpur:
- Three students received the highest offer of Rs. 82 lakh per year, each from different departments.
- The average salary package offered stood at Rs. 12.63 lakh per annum.
- The median package was recorded at Rs. 11 lakh per annum.
- The placement process for the 2024–25 batch is currently in its final stages.
Both institutions have once again proved why they are counted among the top engineering colleges in India when it comes to securing high-paying jobs.
