British Software Engineer Buys Car For Rs 20 Lakh, Turned Out To Be His Stolen Honda Civic

A Software Engineer from Solihull West Midlands, reunited with his stolen car in a shocking way. Ewan Valentine's black Honda Civic was stolen from his driveway in February overnight, according to BBC. When he filed a police complaint, he was told the chances of recovering his vehicle was low. After this his insurance company agreed to a payout, Valentine used the money to purchase a replacement vehicle and started searching for a replacement 2016 Type-R model and found one that looked "identical" about 70 miles away.

He found another black Honda Civic and bought it for 20,000 pounds (Rs 22 lakh). However, upon closer inspection, he realised that it was actually his stolen vehicle. His suspicion got confirmation when he found his previous addresses in the car's sat-nav.

Speaking to BBC he said,"It was sort of a mid-life crisis car, and you don't get many of those, so I was pretty determined to get it replaced before one day I have to get a sort of family car."

"I spotted one that was identical, same colour, same year, same slightly obnoxious exhaust system on it as well, It fit the bill precisely," he added.

He also said that everything was similar to his stolen car except for the number plate.

He was shocked to the extend that his hands were shaking when he realised that it was the same car. Initially, when he got the car he felt it was a heroic moment but that feeling was short-lived and turned into a feeling that he had done something stupid.
