Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Work On Daulatabad Goods Shed To Begin In June On 12-Acre Site
The goods shed of the South Central Railway at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station will be shifted to Daulatabad. Planning has been made that three goods trains would halt at the Daulatabad Railway Station at a time. The goods shed construction at Daulatabad will start in June, railway officials informed.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station is undergoing redevelopment. A new building is being constructed from the direction of Satara. So, it has been decided to shift the goods shed elsewhere. The railway administration started searching for an alternative location for the goods shed. At the end of their search, they have finalised Daulatabad for the goods shed.
The goods shed will be established in a 12-acre area. It will have three railway lines and two platforms. These lines and platforms will be used only for goods transportation. The process of acquisition of land for the goods shed is in its final stages.
Presently, only two goods trains can halt at the existing goods shed at a time. Cement, rice, wheat, urea and other goods come to the shed from various places in the country and are then transported to different locations in the Marathwada region. Tractors also come to the goods shed, while three-wheeler vehicles are transported from the city to the goods shed. Similarly, food grains are also sent from here. Now, all the goods transportation will be done from Daulatabad in the near future. The platforms, porter rooms, trader rooms and other facilities will be provided at Daulatabad. The work is expected to be completed in 18 months.
