“Chellam Sir is back!”: 'The Family Man' character set to return this year in explosive third season

Manoj Bajpayee-starrer 'The Family Man', easily one of India's most popular thriller offerings, keeps building up anticipation for a third season, reportedly set to release in November 2025. Following the exciting announcement of Jaideep Ahlawat joining the cast as the main antagonist, the 'Paatal Lok' actor shared in a Zoom interview that the iconic character of Chellam Sir would be returning for the new season.
“Expect the unexpected, again! The world is expanding, the stakes are crazier, and the humour is sharper. And yes, Chellam Sir is back,” he said.
Despite having a relatively short screen time in the previous two seasons of the show, retired NIA officer Chellam Sir—played to perfection by Tamil actor Uday Mahesh—intrigued viewers with his enigmatic persona, endless knowledge, and an uncanny ability to appear in Srikant's life with the right information at the right time.
Another important reason behind the widespread love for Chellam Sir is the way his character has been excellently written so far: despite his appearance at the right place and at the right time, his character is never reduced to merely a plot convenience, because he has many layers to his personality that make sense to the overall narrative.
Often called the “human Google” by scores of 'Family Man' fans online, Chellam Sir is the only character to have appeared in both 'The Family Man' and 'Farzi', both of which were directed by maverick directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., who are also famed for the explosive dark comedy 'Guns and Gulaabs', featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Rajkumar Rao, and Adarsh Gourav.
The new season of 'The Family Man' will definitely attract fans from 'Paatal Lok' as well, on account of Jaideep Ahlawat's stellar performance as Inspector Hathiram Choudhary in the recently-released second season.
Season 3 also involves returning cast members Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Ashlesha Thakur, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Vedant Sinha, and more, apart from Manoj Bajpayee, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Uday Mahesh.
