'Sarkeet' trailer: Asif Ali-starrer promises a moving tale, set to release in theatres on May 8

Asif Ali, Divya Prabha, and Deepak Parambol come together for a heartwarming tale of friendship and heartbreak in director Thamar KV's new movie Sarkeet. The makers of the film shared the trailer on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The trailer highlights the relationship between a young boy and his shadow teacher. 

The footage begins with Asif Ali’s character looking for jobs in a new city. We also see a couple's inability to deal with their hyperactive kid, Orhan. His teacher advises the mother to assign a shadow teacher, a job for which Asif Ali’s character applies. Later, we can see Asif struggling to bond with the kid but eventually forming a heartwarming friendship. An unforeseen incident happens, which leaves Orhan’s parents searching for him during the odd hours in their house. The trailer, which showcases Asif narrating a gentle and emotional tale about life, promises a captivating experience exploring themes of friendship, love, familial bonds and heartbreak.

Sarkeet is all set to release in theatres on May 8. The film is written and directed by Thamar KV, who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed 1001 Nunakal). Produced by Vinayaka Ajith and Florine Dominic, the music composed by Govind Vasantha beautifully complements the emotional bits in the trailer evoking sentimentality and nostalgia. The film is edited by Sangeeth Pratap.

As for Asif Ali's career graph, the actor has been enjoying consecutive successes in the Malayalam film industry with Kishkindha Kaandam (2024) and his recent release Rekhachitram (2025). Divya Prabha recently fetched much acclaim for her character in Payal Kapadia's critically acclaimed All We Imagine as Light. With both stars in lead roles, we expect great things from Sarkeet.
