IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios Of All 10 Teams

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 reaches its midway mark, all ten teams have started to get a clearer picture of their chances this season. With almost half of the matches played, the race to qualify for the playoffs is intensifying.

Most teams are closely placed on the points table, making every match crucial in the second half of the league stage. As a result, not just wins, but the Net Run Rate (NRR) is expected to play a decisive role in determining the final four teams.

IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenario Of All 10 teams

- Gujarat Titans (GT) And Delhi Capitals (DC): GT and DC are the top two teams with 12 points in 8 matches and positive NRRs of +1.104 and +0.657, respectively. Both teams have 6 matches remaining, and just 3 more wins could be enough to secure a playoff spot with their strong NRR.

- Mumbai Indians (MI) And Lucknow Super Giants (LSG): MI and LSG have both won 5 out of 9 matches, sitting at 3rd and 6th place respectively. MI holds a strong NRR of +0.673, while LSG has -0.054. Both sides need at least three wins in their remaining five games to boost their chances of making the playoffs.

- Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS): With five wins in eight games, RCB and PBKS have strong chances to qualify for the playoffs. If they manage to win four out of their remaining six matches, they won’t have to rely on other teams' results. Both teams have a positive NRR, which could further support their qualification hopes.

- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): KKR are currently placed at 7th in the points table with just 3 wins from 8 matches. Despite the low number of wins, their positive NRR of +0.212 keeps their playoff hopes alive. For a smoother path to qualification, they’ll need to win at least 5 out of their remaining 6 matches and possibly rely on other teams’ results as well.

- Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK): RR, SRH, and CSK are struggling at the bottom of the table with just 2 wins from 8 matches each, placed at 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively. Their negative NRR adds to the concern. To stay alive in the playoff race, all three teams must win their remaining matches and that too with good margins. With multiple teams potentially finishing on 16 points, NRR will likely be the deciding factor.
