KSRTC Contract Conductor Arrested For Sexually Harassing Sleeping Woman Passenger

A contract conductor employed by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been taken into custody following allegations of sexually harassing a woman passenger aboard a public bus. The accused, identified as Pradeep Kashappa Naikar, was arrested after a video surfaced online showing him allegedly misbehaving with a sleeping female commuter.

The incident occurred on Wednesday on a KSRTC bus traveling from Mudipu to the State Bank area near Mangaluru, as per a report on PTI.

The footage, captured by a fellow passenger, quickly went viral on social media and sparked widespread outrage. In the video, Naikar is seen standing near the woman, who had fallen asleep during the journey. At one point, her head unintentionally leans toward his private area, and he is allegedly seen touching her inappropriately, as per a report on The Hindustan Times.

The clip was shared online by the witness, prompting swift action from local law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that a formal complaint was registered and Naikar was arrested soon after.

As of now, KSRTC has not released an official statement regarding disciplinary action or the termination of Naikar’s contractual service.

The police have launched a detailed investigation and are reviewing additional footage and witness statements.
