This director made a film to give employment to his crew, gave salaries to 500 people, lead actors are…, film is…, director is…
The entire country was affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. Offices and businesses were closed, and the Hindi film industry was also adversely affected by the lockdown. During this time, seeing his team members unable to work and his savings running out, Rohit Shetty decided to make his 2022 film Cirkus with Ranveer Singh. Writer Yunus Sajawal has revealed this. Yunus said that the film crew was facing financial difficulties due to work. Due to this, Rohit Shetty made Cirkus to help.
Renowned writer Yunus Sajawal recently spoke about Rohit Shetty’s kindness and affection towards his team while speaking to Digital Commentary. Yunus shared that the filmmaker’s Sooryavanshi release had to be put on hold when the lockdown continued. Then in April, he called the production to book the popular Mehboob Studios for September as he wanted to make an indoor film. “He basically made that film only for his unit,” Yunus said. The Singham Again filmmaker told him that even if he doesn’t work for two years, it’s okay. But what about the people in his unit? Since no one was working and only living off their savings, Shetty wanted to make a studio-based film so that the unit’s families and homes could run smoothly.
Having said this, Yunus also spoke about hiring junior artists and paying everyone on time. The author said, ‘He would never tell this to anyone; he took it upon himself, considering the film a failure.’ According to Yunus Sajawal, Rohit used to pay salaries to all 500 people despite working in rotation due to the restriction of 100 people. At that time, every junior artist had a checkup and vaccination, and all of them were hired for four months, and even if the shooting was stopped, they were still paid. Cirkus also featured Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma.
However, this film of Rohit Shetty flopped at the box office. According to reports, the budget of the film was Rs 150 crore. But the collection of the film was limited to Rs 50 crore. Due to which the producers had to suffer a loss of Rs 100 crore.
