NEET Paper Leak Prime Accused Sanjeev Mukhiya Arrested From Bihar
Sanjeev Mukhiya, the main accused in the NEET paper leak case has been arrested by Economic Offences Unit team, Patna.
As per reports, Mukhiya was arrested by the EOU team on Thursday night, said Naiyar Hussain Khan, Additional Director General, Bihar Economic Offences Unit.
The Bihar government had recently announced a bounty of Rs 3 lakhs on Mukhiya who was on the run in the paper leak case that took place on May 5, 2024.
The EOU has been tracking Mukhiya for quite some time, Khan said, adding he had become the prime target following the paper leak.
He had been on the run for a long time. His arrest took place from an apartment near Saguna Mod in Patna. We received an input late last night, and following that, a raid was conducted, leading to his arrest, the ADG added.
The investigating agency strongly suspects that Sanjeev Mukhiya played a significant role in the NEET paper leak. Notably, in May 2024, six individuals were arrested from Deoghar, Jharkhand in connection with this case. One of them, named Chintu, is a relative of Sanjeev Mukhiya.
More details about the paper leak for the National Eligibility Entrance Test for admission to various medical courses are expected to come to light with Mukhiya's arrest leading to further arrests.
It’s worth mentioning that Sanjeev Mukhiya was employed as a technical assistant at an agricultural college in Nalanda. His wife, Mamta, had contested in the state assembly elections. Sanjeev’s son, Shivkumar, is also in jail in connection with the paper leak case. In January, the Patna Civil Court issued an arrest warrant against Sanjeev.
Mukhiya is a resident of Nagarnausa village in Bihar's Nalanda district. His name also came up in the 2016 Bihar Police Constable Recruitment Exam leak case. Since then, his name has been linked to several other paper leak cases. He is currently being interrogated.
