BSF man strays into Pak, detained; flag meet held
A Border Security Force jawan, PK Sahu, has been detained by the Pakistan Rangers after he accidentally strayed into its territory. The BSF is in touch with the Rangers to secure his release, sources said.
While BSF officials did not confirm the development, the sources said the jawan was deputed on “kisan guard” duty near the Jallo Ke border outpost along the border with Pakistan. Reports stated that the Sahu, a resident of West Bengal, was accompanying farmers when he walked up to a tree to take rest and was detained by the Rangers. BSF officials later held a flag meeting with the Rangers, but its outcome could not be ascertained.
Information suggested that BSF’s 182 battalion deputed in the area had moved to another location a few days ago and the jawan was part of an advance team of the regiment replacing it. He was perhaps not familiar with the location. Senior BSF officials, however, denied any such occurrence.
