City’s largest pool opens for season
The civic body’s Olympic-size swimming pool was officially opened to the public for the season on Thursday morning. The occasion was marked by the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora and Mayor Inderjit Kaur, who were both optimistic the facility would provide much-needed relief from the sweltering summer and encourage residents to stay active.
Located near Rakh Bagh, the 50m x 25m Olympic-size pool is the largest in the city and among the biggest in the region. MP Arora urged residents to make full use of the facility to improve their health and fitness. He said the pool would serve the general public and also offer support for athletes and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in their training and skill development.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur informed attendees residents wishing to use the pool must enrol by filling out an application form, along with submitting the required documents, which are available at the pool site. The seasonal fee must be deposited at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar. The pool would remain open to the public until 31 October 2025.
To ensure convenience and accessibility, separate time slots have been designated for men, women and couples, starting at 5.00 am each day. Users have the option of paying a seasonal fee or opting for a lifetime membership at a fixed rate. The civic body has ensured that the seasonal fee remains more affordable than those charged by other pools in the city.
To guarantee user safety, trained swimming coaches and lifeguards have been stationed at the pool. In addition, water filtration systems have been installed to maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the season.
