School projects worth Rs 1.19 crore launched

Under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative, development projects amounting to Rs 1.19 crore have been inaugurated across various government schools in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The projects were launched by the respective constituency MLAs—Lakhbir Singh Rai (Fatehgarh Sahib), Gurinder Singh Garry Birring (Amloh) and Rupinder Singh Happy (Bassi Pathana).

The funds have been allocated as follows: Rs18 lakh in Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs. 33 lakh in Amloh, and Rs. 68 lakh in Bassi Pathana. These projects aim to enhance basic infrastructure and academic facilities in government schools, a cornerstone of the educational reforms being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Addressing the media, the three MLAs emphasised that the current government is committed to revitalising the state’s education system, correcting decades of infrastructural neglect. They noted that a significant transformation is underway, ensuring that each government school is equipped with a boundary wall, furniture and necessary facilities.

As part of the broader education reforms, the government has recruited 20,000 new teachers and regularised 12,700 contractual ones. Government school teachers are also being sent to prestigious national and international institutions for advanced training.

The MLAs also highlighted the establishment of nearly 100 ‘Schools of Eminence’ furnished with state-of-the-art infrastructure. A dedicated school bus service has been launched, currently benefiting 10,000 students, with expansion plans already in place. In addition, campus managers, security guards and watchmen have been deployed to ensure safety and efficiency in school operations. The MLAs added that grants provided to government schools have been utilised to enhance both academic and physical infrastructure.
