Lift Malfunction Claims Life of Woman Patient at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, Sparks Protests

Bhubaneswar: A wave of outrage swept through Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday following the tragic death of a female patient, allegedly due to a lift malfunction.

The patient has been identified as Minati Parida, a resident of Randia Narsinghpur under Bhadrak Rural Police Station.

As per reports, Parida was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance after suddenly falling ill. After receiving preliminary treatment, she was being shifted to the medicine ward when the mishap occurred.

Reports indicate that the lift unexpectedly moved upward while Minati was inside and no hospital staff was present to assist. Trapped in the malfunctioning lift, she is suspected to have died of suffocation.

The incident caused immediate uproar on the hospital premises, with agitated attendants and locals protesting the apparent negligence. Police were promptly dispatched to the scene to pacify the crowd and restore order.

Meanwhile, the authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the lift malfunction and to assess whether negligence contributed to the tragedy.
