Indore Municipal Corporation Gets 4 Acres In Donation To Enhance Green Cover

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a major push towards enhancing the city’s green cover, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has received a 4-acre land parcel from Cloth Market Society, situated on Kesharbagh Road. The land will soon be transformed into a lush urban forest using the innovative Miyawaki plantation method.

Mayor-in-charge Rajendra Rathore, accompanied by additional commissioner Abhay Rajangaonkar, garden officer Nagendra Bhadoria and representatives of the Cloth Market Society, conducted a thorough inspection of the site on Wednesday.

During the visit, officials discussed the blueprint of the tree plantation drive, which aims to plant 1.25 lakh saplings on the site.

The initiative, part of a broader urban greenery campaign, is designed to combat pollution, improve the environment and further Indore’s reputation as one of India’s cleanest cities.

Rathore said the importance of timely execution and directed officials to ensure meticulous planning and preparation for the plantation.

He also stressed the need for a long-term maintenance strategy to safeguard the growth of the saplings post-plantation.

In addition to the city forest project, instructions were issued for tree plantation along the ring road, green belts and dividers during the upcoming monsoon season, reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
