Prime Minister to Inaugurate the Sahrsa-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Version 2.0 Amrit Bharat Train on April 24

Indian Railways is the rail network of the common people – and this is its greatest strength. Continuing its commitment to providing a better, safer, and more comfortable travel experience for all passengers, Indian Railways is now introducing a new era of ultra-modern yet affordable trains. The Amrit Bharat Train initiative is an extension of this vision, which promises to offer an unparalleled experience. Though it is a non-AC train, it offers facilities that rival those of AC or superfast trains. With modern design, high-speed travel, and minimal fares, these trains promise to transform rail travel into a completely new experience.

Indian Railways is planning to roll out 100 Amrit Bharat Trains over the next three years, marking a historic step in the direction of modernizing rail travel. These trains offer a super-class experience at a minimum fare of just ₹0.45 per kilometer.

On April 24, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the third Amrit Bharat Train from Sahrsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai. With this, Bihar will now have two Amrit Bharat trains in operation.

Currently, Amrit Bharat trains are successfully operating between Darbhanga–Anand Vihar and Malda Town–SMVT Bengaluru. The new train, connecting Sahrsa to Mumbai, is an upgraded Version 2.0, and it will link passengers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Version 2.0 - What's Special?

The second generation of Amrit Bharat Trains is more advanced than the first two sets. It has added several new features, especially for passenger safety and convenience:

Symbol of Equality and Harmony

India is a diverse country, where people from different economic backgrounds live. Some can afford luxury, while others are content with basic comforts. But Indian Railways, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with All, Development for All), has launched this train service for the middle class and economically disadvantaged groups.

In this non-AC train, passengers can enjoy facilities similar to AC trains, with a speed of 130 km/h. This train moves forward with the story of India’s growth, ensuring that no one gets left behind.

A Train that Connects Emotions

Mumbai is often called "Mini India" because it is home to people from every corner of the country. Millions of families from Bihar have their livelihood linked to Mumbai. For years, they have traveled to Mumbai for employment, education, and business. Therefore, the Sahrsa-LTT Amrit Bharat Train is not just about reducing distance, but about connecting hearts.

The dream of returning home during festivals, attending weddings, or participating in family events will no longer be constrained by "waiting lists." This train will be a new beacon of hope for those who have longed for an easy and comfortable journey, and they will now say with a smile:
"Now, no worries, Amrit Bharat hai!"

This train isn’t just about travel; it’s about connecting people, bridging distances, and making the dreams of many come true.
