Pankaj Tripathi to reunite with 'OMG 2' director Amit Rai for Bihar-set drama

Pankaj Tripathi will soon be seen in a human drama set in Bihar, which happens to be his native place. It is where he was born and raised, where he essayed a number of roles as a child artist in local celebrations and where his close family continues to reside.
Soon the ace actor, best known for his performances in Mirzapur, Main Atal Hoon and Kadak Singh, will kick start shoot with his next untitled project. The best part about it, he reportedly said, was his second collaboration with director Amit Rai, with whom he delivered OMG 2 which explored the theme of sex education and highlighted its need in schools and earned over Rs 150 crore at the box office. The film was gripping in its narrative; its direction and stellar cast that kept the audience hooked to the plot throughout.
The as-yet-untitled film which Tripathi will work on next, explores human -animal conflict, and as per reports, the film will also have other known actors including Geeta Agarwal of Laapataa Ladies, Pawan Malhotra and Rajesh Kumar.
"I choose my scripts carefully; it is more instinct than planning," said Tripathi in an earlier interview to THE WEEK. "Also my readings of both, hindi and english authors, helps me put things into perspective and that I think helps in everything I do," he added. Tripathi, is a method actor who strategically places himself in the shoes of his character, and at times, even finds it "difficult to come out of it."
The upcoming film with Rai has been scheduled for 35 days of shoot from start to finish. It will mark Rai's third directorial venture and the director reportedly said how happy he was to collaborate with the ace actor again. "Collaborating with Pankaj again is like returning to a creative space."
