A few months back, senior journalist and film industry expert Hanif Zaveri, in a podcast called Meri Saheli, talked about Amitabh’s career, romance, and more. Hanif said that even before Amitabh ventured into acting, when he was in Kolkata working for a company, he met a girl named Maya.

Zaveri further revealed that Maya was not an actor, but an air hostess associated with British Airways. After meeting Maya, Bachchan fell deeply for her and they started dating.

However, their relationship soon started facing rough patches when Amitabh moved to Mumbai in search of becoming an actor. Zaveri, in his conversation, said that during his early days in Mumbai, Bachchan was living in a bungalow owned by a close friend of his mother, Teji Bachchan. Big B was always afraid that what if his mother came to know about his affair. Hence, he decided to look for new accommodation.

During that time, Amitabh was working on Mehmood Ali’s brother Anwar Ali’s film Saat Hindustani. When Amitabh shared his problems with Anwar, the actor gave him a space to live. On the surface of it, it seemed that the problems between Maya and Bachchan were resolved.

However, they once again started facing problems when Amitabh realised that he is a shy man, whereas Maya was one of the boldest people he had met so far. Then, it was Anwar Ali who advised Big B to part ways with Maya. At this point, the distance between Maya and Bachchan grew faster and they eventually went their separate ways.
