Seminars mark World Earth Day

The Society of Environment Management and Bio Research (SEMBR), a social organisation, organised two seminars to celebrate World Earth Day.

The programmes were celebrated under the theme, “our power, our planet” on the campus of Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur, and Guru Gobind Singh Pharmacy College (GGSPC), Yamunanagar.

Patron of SEMBER society, Dr KR Bhardwaj was the chief guest at both programmes.

At the school, the programme was presided over by the principal of the school Ajay Dhiman and at GGSPC by the principal, Dr Kumar Gaurav Kashyap. President of SEMBER society Ashok Kumar Kakkar welcomed the guests and audience.

On the occasion, the guests, staff members and all seminarians planted saplings on the campus of the school in Bilaspur. The students, staff members and all seminarians organised a rally to spread awareness among people to protect mother earth from the wrath of natural and man-made disasters.

In his address Bhardwaj said that World Earth Day was now a global event to sensitise and educate the general public about the need of its protection and conservation.

He focused on the origin of the earth, its internal structure and other social as well as environmental issues.
