Orators vie for top spot at KU’s ‘Rostrum’

Rostrum 2024-2025, a competition of public speaking skills for the students of the University Teaching Departments and institutes, was organised at Kurukshetra University on Monday.

During the prize distribution ceremony, KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said the competition enhances confidence, clarity and the ability to express ideas effectively in front of an audience. It cultivates critical thinking, persuasion skills and poise — essential tools for leadership and success in any field.

Prof Sachdeva narrated the motivational story of four-time Oscar winner Katherine and advised the students to read such inspirational stories.

Dean Students’ Welfare Prof AR Chaudhri said Rostrum is a speech competition organised at three levels and gave the outline of Rostrum 2024-2025. Rostrum coordinator Prof Omvir Singh presented the programme report.

In Rostrum 2024-2025, MA English student Kalpana and MA Economics student Devanshi secured the first prize. MSc Forensic Science student Diksha got the second prize and BA student Jannat got the third prize. Besides, BA LLB student Jayashree, MSc Biotech student Chetna and MA Music student Rudransh got consolation prizes.
