From Trump to Albanese, world leaders condemn ‘horrific’ Pahalgam attack
Many countries across the world have condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 persons dead and several injured. Top world leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, denounced terrorism and expressed solidarity with India.
Trump called PM Narendra Modi to condemn the attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of the “heinous attack”.
China offered “sincere sympathies” to India, with the country’s foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stating, “We mourn the victims and extend our sincere sympathies to the families of the victims.”
In a communication to President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi, Putin said the “brutal crime” had no justification and its perpetrators would face a deserved punishment.
Terming the attack “utterly devastating”, UK PM Keir Starmer said, “My thoughts are with those affected, their loved ones and the people of India.”
The Taliban-led Afghanistan said, “Categorically condemn the attack on tourists and express our condolences to the bereaved families. Such incidents undermine efforts to ensure regional stability and security.”
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said he was deeply saddened by the barbaric attack. “Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism,” his office posted on X.
Italian PM Giorgia Meloni said she was “deeply saddened” and expressed solidarity with the affected families, injured, government and Indian people.
French President Emmanuel Macron while condemning the attack, extended his condolences to the families of the victims.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was shocked by the “horrific attack” and said there was no justification for violence.
Sri Lanka said, “Strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack… Sri Lanka stands in firm solidarity with the government and people of India in the fight against terrorism.”
