Income Tax e-pay Tax Feature: The Income Tax Department on Tuesday, April 22, said that it has launched a facility called ‘e-Pay Tax’ on its official online portal, which has made paying taxes easier. The department said that this is a simple, convenient and hassle-free process through which tax can be paid. Let’s understand what it is? How will it be beneficial? How will it be used and who can use it?
What is e-Pay Tax?
e-Pay Tax is a digital payment feature through which you can pay tax online and for this there is no need to login or go to the bank. It makes the whole process easy and fast.
What are its benefits?
- You will avoid long queues at the bank, both time and effort will be saved
- The records of the tax department will be updated automatically
- The challan is generated immediately after paying the tax
- There are no interruptions in the process of paying tax, which motivates people to pay tax on time
How to use?
Visit the portal: Open the income tax e-filing website and go to the ‘Quick Links’ section and click on ‘e-Pay Tax’.
Enter PAN and mobile number: Enter your Permanent Account Number (PAN) and mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
Verify with OTP: Verify your identity by entering the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile.
Select the type of payment: Decide which tax you want to pay – regular income tax, advance tax or self-assessment tax.
Enter tax details: Enter the amount of tax to be paid under each tax head.
Select the mode of payment: You can choose any option from net banking, debit card, credit card, UPI or NEFT/RTGS.
Confirm the information: Check the challan details once and confirm the payment.
Who can use it?
Any person who has a PAN can use this facility. You must have a bank account that has permission to process tax payments and internet banking facility. This facility is also applicable to corporate taxpayers (not including companies) who fall under section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
