2-year jail for escaping from CIA custody

A Mansa court has sentenced gangster Deepak Tinu, who was involved in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala, to two-year imprisonment and fined him Rs 2,000 for escaping from the CIA’s custody on October 1, 2022.

The court also awarded 23-month jail to former CIA In-charge Preetpal Singh. It also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on him.

After the incident, the DGP dismissed CIA In-charge Preetpal Singh from the service. On October 2, the police registered a case and began an investigation into the incident.

The police had named eight persons, including Tinu’s female friend Jitendar Kaur Jyoti, Chirag, Kuldeep Kohli, Bittu, Rajendra Gora, Sunil Kumar Lohia, Sarabjot Singh and Rajveer Singh as accused in the case. However, the court acquitted all of them.

According to the police, it seized an illegal pistol from Bittu, two weapons from Chirag and three pistols from Preetpal Singh’s residence.

The Delhi Police had arrested Tinu from Ajmer on October 19, 2022.
