Detailed Discussions Held on ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047’ at State Council of Ministers’ Meeting

Bhubaneswar: The 7th Meeting of the State Council of Ministers was held today at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida and all members of the Council of Ministers.

Chief Secretary Odisha Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners cum Secretaries of Departments and other senior officials were present in the meeting.

In his address, Chief Minister said that on the occasion of centenary celebrations of formation of the state, the Government has taken an ambitious resolve to make Odisha a prosperous and developed state by 2036. This will also help in achieving the goal of making our country a developed nation by 2047. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and with the support of NITI Aayog, the Government has started preparing for ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047′ from August 2024. Inclusion, Prosperity and Wellness are the three pillars which form the basis of this vision document. To achieve GSDP target of US$1.5 Trillion by 2047 and to contribute 5 per cent to India’s GDP, Odisha needs to exceed and accelerate the rate of economic growth it has achieved so far. He said that this is both, a challenge as well as an opportunity. This goal can be achieved through a collaborative environment, public-private investment, implementation and coordination through technology. In this regard, Odisha’s growth transformation journey will be accelerated by launching a strategic initiative ’36 for 36′, identifying 36 flagship initiatives aimed at making a significant impact in key sectors by 2036. Hon’ble Chief Minister said that it would be possible to finalize the draft through the well-thought-out advice and guidance of the Council of Ministers, and accordingly an implementation plan will be charted for successful implementation of the targets laid down in the Vision Odisha 2036 and 2047 document.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja briefed about the need for export-oriented manufacturing to achieve rapid economic growth rate and the need for Deregulation, Decriminalisation and Digitisation for Ease of Doing Business (EoDB). Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg and members of the six Sectoral Group of Secretaries (SGoS) jointly presented the important priorities of ’36 for 36’ along with various aspects and objectives of the vision document.

Chief Minister stressed on the need for prioritising the infrastructural growth and suggested special plans for expansion of roads and railways networks, ports and air connectivity. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Shri Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Rural Development Minister Shri Rabi Narayan Naik, Works, Mines and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Food Security and Civil Supply Minister Krishna Chandra Patro, Health & Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, Electronics & Information Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, School and Mass Education, ST, SC, Minorities & Backward Castes Welfare Minister Nityananda Gond, Forest & Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia were among those who actively participated and gave their insightful inputs on the vision document.

It was decided in the meeting that the ‘Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047’ document will be finalised by in consultation with public representatives, common citizens, members of civil society and intellectuals at various levels in the next 15 days by organizing regional workshops at 4 different locations in the state.
