Two Pune Friends Killed In Pahalgam Attack: How Family Trip To Kashmir To Recreate Childhood Memories Turned Tragic For Santosh Jagdale
It was supposed to be a revisiting of a childhood holiday for Santosh Jagdale. The trip to Kashmir, which Jagdale took with his family, was a reenactment of a holiday that Santosh's father had taken with his parents during his childhood.
Santosh Navale, a very close friend of Jagdale, speaking to FPJ, said, "It was the first time they traveled by plane, and they had been planning for a long time."
The Ganbotes were a close family to the Jagdales, and this Kashmir trip was also the first time they were holidaying together. Everything ended in tragedy.
When they left for their Kashmir trip, two best friends from Pune's Karve Nagar area — Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote — did not know that this would be their last trip.
Two businessmen from Karve Nagar, Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote, sustained gunshot wounds in the dastardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday and later succumbed. It was their first trip by flight.
Navale could not join due to office work
Navale frurther said, "They went on Sunday and were about to come back before May 1st. We were not able to communicate with him for the last three days due to a landslide, poor weather conditions, and rains in Srinagar. Last year, we went together to Arunachal Pradesh, but this time I could not go with him due to office work."
Ajay Jagdale, the eldest brother, said, "We could not talk with him due to the poor climate. Sunday was the last communication with him. After a 16-hour journey, he reached Pahalgam from Srinagar. He used to travel to a lot of places. They were very fond of nature and used to take holidays to enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature."
Revealing the first call after the attack, Ajay Jagdale said, "His daughter, Asavari Jagdale, made a call to the family members and narrated the whole story about the attack. She said, 'We have been rescued, and army personnel are taking them to Srinagar.'
Terrorists struck at a prime tourist location in Pahalgam in South Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 persons, mostly tourists, and injuring several others. The mortal remains of Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote will be brought to Pune by this evening, informed Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol.
